Lord Midori most likely had a lesser tolerance for the other areas of Pixie hollow thus why his wing broke-my theory his actual talent is Lord of Deep Winter. But what about Queen Clarion and Lord Midori? if we take book meta into account Queen Clarion has all the talents so in theory she could access Winter with not a lot of problems. My theory is that either those fairies have a higher tolerance of being outside winter or that some Winter fairies can tolerate being in Spring and Fall, so perhaps their talent is something like “herald of winter”-but not so much Summer-for a lot longer than SotW indicates (in theory as there are snow storms on the mainland during spring and fall). Wait how is the Minister of Winter and the fairies sitting in the tree in Pixie Hollow without any ill effects from being a winter fairy in spring?
